Pantheon shuts its doors

One of South Africa’s most successful and well known gaming organizations, Pantheon Gaming, today announced that they are shutting their doors.

Official announcement on Pantheongaming.co.za

From its humble beginnings which saw four like-minded individuals coming together, including Paul “Vetoll” Fairbank, Steve “roskii” Roberts, Rob “GrIdL0cK” Clegg and Matt “dement1a” Weaver, and has seen many come and go, today will be the end of the road for a historical period in our gaming community.

As with having to run such an organization, an incredible amount of time must be invested from both the players and the management. With the organization seeing its management move into more busy periods in their lives, as well as players experiencing the same difficulties, the ability to uphold the standards and level of integrity set out by Pantheon throughout the years, is just not possible anymore.

While we considered letting Pantheon be maintained in the hands of others, we believe for what its worth, Pantheon should be remembered for what it ignited in our community, and how far we have come since then on a competitive and professional level.

We would like to thank all of the individuals who have been involved throughout the years, with special mention going to a few. To Chris “Evax” Noble for being one helluva captain as well as a great friend, to Wayne “Craan” Smith for giving his all whenever he could, to Pieter “SLicK” van Nieuwenhuizen our longest serving player, to Matt “fluKe” Merks for being both a player and then taking a management position in Pantheon, to Adrian “Nexorsist” de Winter for being a trusted advisor over the last few months, to Alistair “Lag_beast” Bouman and Francios “Lucidity” Van Wyk for being Pantheon’s two top fans for as long as we can remember, to our sponsors SteelSeries and Panda Security who have supported us through thick and thin, and last but not least, Paul “Vetoll” Fairbank, the man who constantly worked in the background to maintain the website and to hold the organisation together, Fairbank was a critical part of Pantheon and couldn’t of achieved what it has without him.
And from myself, Steve “roskii” Roberts, I would personally like to thank all of the players and fans who helped take Pantheon from strength to strength, as well as to everyone in our community who continues to try take our small but strong community to the next level, and hopefully in the near future that dream will be achieved.

An official list of Pantheon’s achievements has been listed on Pantheongaming.co.za
