As the free Windows 10 upgrade period draws to a close, Microsoft has resorted to adware tactics with its most irritating pop-up yet, reports The Guardian.
The “Sorry to interrupt” notification will take over the whole screen and force users to select either to upgrade at once or to be reminded later, which will cause the pop up to reappear every three days.
Two (much smaller links) available in the bottom-left of the pop-up allow users to be notified an additional three times or never again.
This follows a R150,000 judgement against the company after the Windows 10 self-updater caused a woman’s PC to repeatedly crash.
Windows 7 and 8.1 owners have until 29 July to upgrade if they have not done so already.
