Games releasing this week (19 – 23 March 2012)

19 March 2012

With Human Rights Day hitting us sharply in the middle of the week, this week is more like two mini-weeks – and that means we sort of have two “Fridays” to look forward to as well!

Of course, only one of those Fridays will see all this week’s big releases – but at least there’s a lot more to look forward to.

If you were looking forward to Silent Hill Downpour being on the list for this Friday, you may need to hold on that a bit longer, as it seems it’s been delayed until April 5. We’re waiting for confirmation on that one.

Armored Core V

Who doesn’t love huge robots? Armored Core V is a return for the popular mech-series, which hasn’t been around since 2008.

With the latest release, the devs are looking to move back to the series’ roots, by focusing a lot more on environmental and tactical gameplay (as opposed to the gung-ho approach in the last few titles). The locations will determine your approach.

The game also features some massive 5v5 multiplayer, where you and 4 companions will be going up against another team to achieve various goals – while one team member gets to wear the daddy-pants and oversee the operation and shout out commands.

If big flying robots is your thing (and it should be) – look out for Armored Core V this Friday, 23 March 2012.

Shogun 2: Fall of the Samurai

If you’re a huge Total War fanboy like Nic, you’ll definitely be excited about the stand-alone expansion that’s hitting this Friday – Total War 2: Fall of the Samurai.

Fall of the Samurai explores the conflict between the Imperial throne and the last Shogunate in 19th century Japan, 400 years after the events of the original game. With the passing of time, the introduction of modern weaponry in combination with traditional Samurai arms will be one of the most defining changes made with the expansion.

You won’t need the original Shogun 2 in order to play Fall of the Samurai, which is not to say you shouldn’t play the original – it’s just not a prerequisite.
