Bring back these gaming franchises!

Throughout the history of gaming there have been countless franchises that stole our hearts. These franchises were part of our life and we thought we would be lost without them.

Well, without us even noticing, they disappeared.

Let us take a look back at some of the greatest gaming franchises which I wish would make a comeback.

Black and White – 2001

The game that started the God complex, Black and White.

Playing as a God ruling over an island populated by tribes, it was your job to keep up appearances. The mouse pointer was your hand and you could pick up people and other objects and toss them at will. Using your godly powers you would have to gain control over every village on the island.

Black and White received a sequel in 2005 where the same principle was present, but this time around you would face other Gods while you were on your holy quest for domination. Black and White 2 also added in the ability to raise an animal, be it a lion, tiger, or even a cow.

There was nothing like coming home in a bad mood, booting up Black and White, and raining down meteors on your village because you had a bad day.

Warcraft – 1994

I think it is time to leave World of Warcraft alone for a little while and focus on creating a sequel to the Warcraft franchise – can I get an amen?

The last time we received a single-player Warcraft experience was when Blizzard released the Frozen Throne expansion for Warcraft 3 in 2003. I long for LAN matches with friends and those epic cinematics.

I think it is time we start a petition, because at the end of the day World of Warcraft just isn’t Warcraft.

Crash Bandicoot – 1996

The original PlayStation mascot, Crash the Bandicoot.

He was every child’s favourite gaming character, and when we entered his world it was an unforgettable experience. Crash Bandicoot grew with every game, and we met more family members, characters, and villains in every new title.

As Crash Bandicoot, and sometimes Coco Bandicoot, it would be your responsibility to stop evil Dr. Neo Cortex. You would be aided by your talking mask Aku Aku, who made his debut alongside Crash in the original Crash Bandicoot in 1996.

The Crash Bandicoot series has been long gone, but let us cross our fingers and hope that one day we will get to play a new Crash in all its glory.

Command and Conquer – 1995

If you were a gamer in the 90s you would know how amazing the Command and Conquer series was.

It was the king of strategy games and it launched a rocket straight into our hearts. Command and Conquer has been missing in action for quite some time, and just when we thought the wait was over they went and cancelled Command and Conquer Generals 2.

Although the series is still alive and kicking according to EA, there might still be a long wait before we get to play a new C&C title.

If you are desperate to play a Command and Conquer title you can grab the Command and Conquer Ultimate Collection for cheap on Origin.

SOCOM – 2002

It has been a while since we played a SOCOM game – the last time there was a release on the PS3, the PlayStation Network went down for a month.

SOCOM is a third-person tactical shooter that was originally released on the PS2. The game focuses on various teams of the United States Navy SEALs, who must complete missions and work with other special forces from around the world.

It has a traditional cover-based combat system, and has been praised for its great online experience.
