Hundreds line up for first Dunkin’ Donuts in South Africa

14 October 2016

The first Dunkin’ Donuts has officially opened its doors in South African.

The outlet at N1 City in Cape Town will be the first of five scheduled to start in the coastal city by the end of 2016, reports Bloomberg.

There are unique challenges with the South African market said Alan Keet, Chief Executive Officer of South African leisure company Grand Parade Investments Ltd.

“We need to make people understand, despite the name, it’s a coffee and bakery offering,” he said.

The first Johannesburg store is expected to open in the first half of 2017 and will act as a direct competitor to the recently opened Krispy Kreme.
