Leonardo DiCaprio is making a Captain Planet movie

18 October 2016

Leonardo DiCaprio’s production company, Appian Way, is reportedly partnering with Paramount to make a film about Captain Planet

The studio is in talks for the rights to the 1990’s cartoon series, and is eyeing Jono Matt and Scream Queens star Glen Powell to write the script.

For those of you who are too young to remember, Captain Planet and the Planeteers is a 1990 TV series featuring a quintet of teenagers who work together to encourage environmentally responsible behaviour and can summon a superhero to deal with ecological disasters.

DiCaprio has long been considered Hollywood’s “Captain Planet“, with a number of environmental initiatives and charities to his name.

I don’t care what anybody else says, I think it’s a cool idea Leonardo.

PS – you can get up to 40% tax rebate if you film that in South Africa, so now you can write tax off, and then get some back to reinvest into your film.
