11-year old starts high-speed police chase after playing Grand Theft Auto

28 November 2016

An 11-year old Ontario boy engaged in a high-speed chase after playing GTA V, reports Cog News.

“Drivers called it in thinking it was probably an impaired driver, because the vehicle was all over the highway,” said  Sgt. Kerry Schmidt of the Ontoraio Provincial Police’s Highway Safety Division.

“The vehicle was first… going under the speed limit – like about half the speed limit,” Schmidt said. “As the officer tried to get out and talk to this driver, find out what was going on… the vehicle took off again.”

Several police cars eventually managed to box the driver, bringing it to a stopping roll – it was then that they discovered just how young the driver actually was.

When asked why he decided to take his sleeping parent’s car for a joyride, he responded:

“(He) had just been finishing playing Grand Theft Auto at home and wanted to find out what it was like driving a car.”

That boy can be glad he didn’t pull that in the USA. Headline would be more in line with “11 y/o shot dead during high speed chase.”
