This boardgame is on track to become the biggest Kickstarter ever

Tabletop miniatures game Kingdom Death: Monster 1.5 has already raised more than $5 million on Kickstarter putting it on track to become the biggest Kickstarter of all time.

According to Kickstarter tracker Kicktraqwith 40 days of the campaign still remaining Kingdom Death will likely eclipse current leader the Pebble SmartWatch.

What exactly is Kingdom Death: Monster 1.5 and why has it go so many people excited?

“Kingdom Death Monster is an massive cooperative board game about survival in a nightmare-horror world.”

“Survivors fight for their lives against an onslaught of bizarre and fearsome creatures.”

“They will use the fruits of these battles to build a fragile civilization in a place where humans are at the bottom of a monstrous ecology.”

The title is actually a revised version of a 2013 game which sold to just 5,000 backers.

It’s subsequently been completely sold out, which would explain some of the popularity but certainly not this level of traction.

It’s also worth noting that the first units will only be shipping in 2020, which means that some serious enthusiasts are dropping over R3,600 for a game coming out in 4 years time.
