Halo Infinite community manager John Junyszek has revealed in a ranked matchmaking update that the game’s matchmaking system will receive a patch on 22 February 2022.
The patch is intended to address the unbalanced skill assessment system and ensure that players capabilities are accurately measured before placement.
This patch comes after developer 343 Industries analysed match data to improve the system of skill assessment following a player outcry at the currently unbalanced matchmaking system.
The developer found that the system was overly lenient, and as a result, players were being ranked and playing matches far below or far above their skill level.
However, once the patch drops, all players will have their Competitive Skill Ranks (CSR) reset so that “everyone can get an updated CSR that is more indicative of their skill.”.
343 industries also said that players should expect to drop at least one tier lower as the system was providing an inflated rank to most players.
The developer stated that it would continue to monitor the situation, and the community should expect more updates in the future to ensure the system is up to date with players.
