Superhero fans can rejoice – 2022 is set to be a great year for superhero movies in both Marvel’s Cinematic Universe (MCU) and DC’s Extended Universe (DCEU).
DC still has a lot of catching up to do, though, given the recent success of Marvel’s Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Here’s a list of all the MCU and DCEU movies coming to a Ster Kinekor cinema near you.
Marvel
Morbius – 1 April
Morbius is based on Marvel Comics’ Morbius, the Living Vampire.
The movie will focus on Dr. Michael Morbius’ origin story and add to Sony’s shared Spider-Man universe.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness – 6 May
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is the sequel to Doctor Strange (2016) and follows the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home and the first season of Loki.
Viewers will follow Dr. Steven Strange into the multiverse as he faces off against a mysterious new enemy.
Thor: Love and Thunder – 8 July
Thor: Love and Thunder is a sequel to Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers Endgame.
Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi returns to head Love and Thunder, but story details up until now have been mostly speculation, so we’ll have to wait and see what the movie is about.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) – 7 October
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) is the first of two sequels to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
The movie will follow the adventure of Miles Morales, Gwen Stacy, and some new Spider-People across the multiverse (not to be confused with Dr. Strange’s Multiverse).
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever – 11 November
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is the sequel to Black Panther and Avengers: Endgame, but no plot details have been released.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever does not have a trailer yet, either.
DC
The Batman – 4 March
The Batman is yet another reboot of the Batman movie franchise, this time with Robert Pattinson donning the cape and facing the Riddler.
DC League of Superpets – 20 May
DC’s League of Superpets will follow the adventures of a team of superpowered animals led by Krypto, Superman’s dog.
The team sets out to rescue Superman and the Justice League from Lex Luthor’s imprisonment.
Black Adam – 29 July
Black Adam will explore the antihero Black Adam’s origin story and add to DC’s extended cinematic universe.
The Flash – 4 November
Barry Allen finally gets a standalone movie in which he must face the consequences of traveling back in time to stop his mother’s murder from occurring.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom – 16 December
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom follows the events of Aquaman.
Director James Wan stated that “Black Manta is still trying to kill Aquaman” in a behind-the-scenes clip, but that’s all the plot details we have.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom does not have a trailer yet.
