Gabe Newell, the co-founder and president of Valve, recently stated that while there are no plans to introduce a ‘Steam Pass’ to the platform, it would consider working with Microsoft to put Game Pass on Steam if there was enough demand.

“I don’t think it’s something that we think we need to do ourselves, building a subscription service at this time,” Newell said. “But for their customers, it’s clearly a popular option, and we’d be more than happy to work with them to get that on Steam.”

While Microsoft hasn’t made any statements regarding a possible collaboration with Valve, adding Xbox Game Pass to Steam is not impossible.

Steam has integrated the EA Play subscription service into its platform, so the technology already exists.

The decision regarding integrating Microsoft Game Pass into Steam would therefore revolve around whether it would be financially beneficial for both companies.

Newell evidently subscribes to this mentality.

“If your customers want it, then you should figure out how to make it happen,” said Newell.

“That’s where we’re at.”
