Electronic Arts announced yesterday that it has cancelled its EA Play Live event for 2022.
This will be the first time the event has been cancelled since it began in 2016. EA explained to IGN that it made the decision because “this year things aren’t lining up to show you everything on one date.”
EA then went on to say, “We have exciting things happening at our world-class studios and this year we’ll reveal much more about these projects when the time is right for each of them.”
EA Play Live began as an in-person event where players got the chance to get hands-on time with the publisher’s new and upcoming games, along with updates on games like Madden, Star Wars, Apex Legends, FIFA, and more.
It then switched to an online showcase in 2020 and 2021 to keep it running despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
Despite cancelling EA Play Live 2022, EA has a packed schedule of game releases in the next year or two, including Dead Space and LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.
