Apex Legends Awakening Collection Event launches today

Respawn Entertainment has announced that it will be updating its Battle Royale experience with its Apex Legends’ Awakening Collection Event, which will launch today at 19:00 SAST.

The official theme for the event is “Mechs vs Monsters,” and will bring new anime-inspired cosmetics, Lifeline’s Town takeover, a notable map change on Olympus, as well as several other behind-the-scenes changes throughout the coming weeks.

Additionally, Control mode returns during the Awakening Collection Event, and World’s Edge will be joining this game mode’s rotation alongside Olympus and Storm Point.

Respawn will also be adding some new features to the Control mode during the event and they include the following:

  • Introduction of Ad drones to Control for storytelling purposes, but yes, you can also shoot them down.
  • Matchmaking improvement – Fill slots of missing players at the start of Control with new players to prevent imbalanced matches.
  • Added tabs to the About screen – seen in Lobby and is accessible in Control matches.
  • One of the new tabs has a breakdown of Rating values.
  • The other has a breakdown of how the spawn system works.

The new update will also add 24 anime-style cosmetics to the game for a limited time only, including Legendary skins like Horizon’s “Atom Heart Mother”, Fuse’s “Animal Instinct”, and Ash’s “Existential Threat”, and more.

All 24 items will be available through direct purchase (using Apex Coins or Crafting Metals) and in Awakening Event Apex Packs for the duration of the event.

Additionally, players will be able to earn 1,600 points per day and challenges will refresh daily.

Respawn will also be bringing back the Special Offers tab that will offer deals until the July end date.
