League of Legends Netflix animation Arcane has been nominated for two Emmys

The breakout League of Legends animated show Arcane has been nominated for Outstanding Animated Program and Outstanding Sound Editing for a Comedy or Drama Series at the Emmys.

In the Outstanding Animated Program award, Arcane is running against notable content such as Marvel’s What If (What If… Doctor Strange Lost His Heart Instead of His Hands?), Rick and Morty (Mort Dinner Rick Andre), and The Simpsons (Pixelated and Afraid).

The chosen episode for Arcane is “When These Walls Come Tumbling Down”, the mid-season finale which saw the brief reunion of main characters Vi and Jinx (Powder).

For the second nomination, Arcane will compete with titles such as What We Do In The Shadows, Love Death + Robots and Ted Lasso.

Arcane explores the origin stories of several heroes from Riot’s popular game League of Legends and centres around Vi, Jinx, and Jayce as they struggle to achieve their goals and contend with a cruel world.

A second season of the series has been confirmed – and while we don’t have a release date, we do know it won’t be coming out this year.
