MultiVersus exceeds player count expectations

2 August 2022

It may be a little surprising to some to learn that the free-to-play Smash-like game MultiVersus is soring since it entered open beta just a week ago.

On Steam, MultiVersus is currently among the top 10 most popular games at the moment, with an average player count of 70,358 and a peak count of just over 153,000 in just seven days.

Additionally, MultiVersus is available on PlayStation and Xbox, and according to PC Gamer’s Morgan Park, after 29 matches the game’s leaderboard showed a rank of 4,929,968 in the world.

While Warner Bros hasn’t released any official metrics on MultiVersus, this suggests that the game already has attracted at least 5 million total players.

Although this is not an exact science, the leaderboards and player counts give us a good idea of how many people have tried the game out over the past week.

These numbers are useful for gauging player interest, and MutliVersus seems to be satisfying the masses.

We’ll know for sure if this is the case as soon as Player First Games gets around to officially celebrating the launch with a big number.
