This is what we know about Medal of Honor: Warfighter, in lovely bullet points for your reading pleasure:
- The game is being published by EA and developed by the same studio that bought us 2010’s Medal of Honor reboot, Danger Close Studios.
- Medal of Honor: Warfighter will be released in October 2012.
- It will take place in Afghanistan, and follow the story of Western Tier 1 operatives.
- Unlike its predecessor, Medal of Honor: Warfighter will be developed solely by Danger Close. Danger Close developed Medal of Honor’s single player campaign, while DICE was pulled in to work on the multiplayer.
- It will run on EA’s Frostbite 2.0 engine, which is the same technology that powers Battlefield 3.
- The game will feature a new one-shot-kill hardcore mode.
- It will introduce a new kind of co-operative play, although no more details were shared on this.
- Danger Close used real stories shared by marines in Afghanistan to develop the game’s storylines.
- Although the game will closely follow the recent conflict in the Middle East, we should not expect it to recreate the Osama Bin Laden assassination. “That’s not our story to tell,” said Goodrich.
- The following characters will return from the previous game: Preacher, Voodoo, Mother, as well as others.
- The flooded Isabela City in the Philippines is one of the game’s confirmed locations.
- The game will be released globally on 23 October, 2012.
