Company of Heroes 2 has received its first teaser trailer from THQ, and the video sets the scene for the World War II real-time strategy game as it focuses on the Eastern front of the war.
Although teaser trailers tend feel like an announcement of an announcement and don’t really show gameplay, the video utilises animated stills, with some pretty dramatic music and narration, which should get PC gamers pumped to see some real in-game footage sometime soon.
Officially announced back in May, the sequel will feature a new campaign following the battles across the Eastern Front of Europe in World War II, a new Essence 3.0 Engine, and a ‘True Sight’ game mechanic, in which players will only be able to see what their controlled soldiers see, leaving what may be behind the next building or treeline unknown.
Company of Heroes 2 will follow up from the critically-acclaimed 2006 strategy game, which garnered a huge cult following from its release.
“Company of Heroes 2 is a true successor, introducing a new front, new protagonists and new technology,” said Greg Wilson, producer at Relic. “While retaining the unique mix of strategic gameplay and competitive multiplayer that made the original Company of Heroes such a success.”
