Valve has announced a deal with Lionsgate that will expand its movie catalogue significantly.
The deal will bring over 100 additional big-budget films to the Steam service, including some of Lionsgate’s biggest franchises.
This means users will soon be able to rent movies such as The Hunger Games, Divergent, and Twilight within the Steam client.
Movies are available on all iterations of the Steam client regardless of platform, and are available as streaming rentals which cannot be downloaded.
Valve has offered films through Steam for a while, these new additions to the service will mark the first big-budget titles to be featured on the platform.
It will be interesting to see how the addition of big-budget films do on the platform, as previously most movies available on Steam have been game-related documentaries such as Free to Play or Indie Game: The Movie.
South African pricing is currently unavailable, although current movie rentals on Steam range from R25 to R76.
