The language used for Wakandan in Captain America: Civil War was Xhosa, co-director Joe Russo recently told Entertainment Weekly.
Black Panther (T’Challa) speaks Xhosa with his father T’Chaka in the film.
“John Kani, the actor who plays T’Challa’s father in the movie, speaks the language,” said Russo.
Kani, who was born in New Brighton in the Eastern Cape, is a South African actor, director, and playwright.
