Minecraft developer Mojang has revealed the release date for the Minecraft movie.
The movie will release on 24 May 2019, and will also be released in 3D and IMAX.
Vu Bui from Mojang confirmed the film’s release date in a blog post, commenting on the distant release.
“Yes, that might seem like a long time away, but it just so happens to be the right amount of time to make it completely awesome. And we all want an awesome Minecraft movie, right?”
The film will be directed by Rob McElhenney, co-creator of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
Roy Lee, producer of the Lego Movie, will reportedly also assist in the creation of the film.
