South Africans went to the polls on 3 August to cast their votes in the 2016 municipal elections.
This was one of the most contested elections, with the ANC and DA fighting for control of the major metros around the country.
The IEC said most of the voting stations opened on time, and that voting went smoothly.
IEC chairperson Glen Mashinini said they received isolated reports of unrest and protests, but security forces were deployed to ensure voting could continue.
