Happy friday! What we’re playing this weekend

18 February 2011

So it’s Friday, hazaa! U2 will be playing for 72,000 Capetonians tonight, and the first cricket world cup match takes place tomorrow between India and Bangladesh. More importantly, however, gamers around the country will be enjoying precious, undisturbed gaming time, complete with late nights and sleeping in even later.

This weekend the MyGaming crew will be playing the following:

Nic Simmonds

Being an avid cricket fan, I actually plan on watching at least some of tomorrow’s opening match between Bangladesh and India. I’m also booked up for Saturday evening and most of Sunday, so I probably won’t get too much gaming in. However, the precious hours I do squeeze out will probably go into Battlfield: Bad Company 2 (still loving it), and I may even give CoD: Black Ops a second chance to see how it plays since the last patch.

I’m also busy reviewing Cities in Motion, although sticking with it is proving difficult, even for a seasoned sim enthusiast such as myself.

Killzone 3 and Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds

Killzone 3 screen

I’m a newcomer to the Killzone franchise and so far it’s been a fun romp. I’m looking forward to sinking my teeth in more this weekend and testing out the PlayStation Move functionality – watch out for my review. MvC 3 is sitting there taunting me while I enjoy Killzone 3. Many a wasted day of my youth was spent dodging math lessons and playing MvC 2. I can’t wait to use The Hulk to pound some humility into that supercilious Dante!

Tarryn van der Byl

Dead Space 2. I’m about a quarter way through my third run, and I’ve still got a bunch of achievements to grab. Besides, impaling babies just never gets old.

Dead Space 2

Otherwise, maybe I’ll get back to my Mass Effect 2 DLC, which I’ve just remembered I bought over a month ago and immediately forgot about. Whatever I play, it’s really just something to fill the gap until Bulletstorm.

Myles Gray

Gaming sucks! No seriously! It really sucks when I cannot get enjoyment out of my gaming! Okay, so it is just me feeling off lately, but luckily, I think I have found something to get me out of these doldrums. So what is it? The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess!

Zelda

Having fairly recently acquired a Wii (at a crazy cheap price I will add), I am slowly trying to work my way through all of its “must plays”. Right now I am about 10hrs into Zelda and it is going well. So this weekend, and likely for the next week, I will be hanging around with Link, Midna and Link’s trusty steed Epona, as I try to save the lands of Hyrule… again.

Chris Kemp

Chris is busy making his way through South Vietnam, barefoot with a panga, or something. It seems unlikely that he will be playing any games this weekend.

Apocalypse Now

Dan Parmenter

Dan failed to get his submission in on time. I blame the slave drivers who own his soul (Dan works in advertising). Dan better be playing DC Universe online because his review is still outstanding.
