Is it actually worth going to this year’s rAge Expo?

Those of you who have been to an expo in the past (particularly a gaming expo) know that they can be a hot, crowded affair.

Add to that the screaming mix of children and the loud noises typically associated with video games, and we understand a touch of hesitance.

So we ask, “is it actually worth going to this year’s rAge Expo”?

The answer is emphatically “YES” and here’s why:

First chance to try out VR

For many South Africans this will be the first chance to check out VR for yourselves.

Blue Ocean VR will be showcasing both VR (Virtual Reality) and AR (Augmented Reality), while PS VR will also be available to try out.

New Games

Yes, you can stay at home and watch trailers but there’s nothing like seeing and playing a game for yourself.

Apex, Megarom, Ster Kinekor, Sony, Microsoft, and more will all be making an appearance with plenty of games to see and try out for yourself.

There’s also plenty of indie devs showing off the best South Africa has to offer.

Specials

It’s no secret that one of the biggest reasons to attend rAge every year is the incredible specials they have on gaming and tech.

Take a little bit more than the price of admission and you will be sure to score a deal or two.

The Community

Sometimes being a gamer in South Africa can feel a bit lonely.

If you want to see just how massive this industry has actually become in the last couple of years, we suggest you pop your head in just to see how many like-minded individuals like yourself there are.

Telkom DGL Masters

The finals of the Telkom DGL Masters Series will be held at this year’s rAge Expo, with both South Africa’s top Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive teams battling it out for a R1,000,000 prize pool.

There are other tournaments going on too, with the Call of Duty World League Cup and African Challenge Esport gaming tournament also both taking place.

And of course there’s South Africa’s biggest LAN continously going on in the background.
