The 4 biggest tech trends coming in 2017

2017 is just around the corner, and with it a bunch of whole new year of exciting technology.

While some of this technology will be completely new to us, there are already some pretty clear trends forming.

Check them out below:

VR Dominance

The three big VR headsets are out, but it’s only in 2017 that they will truly get the chance to thrive.

2017 will see developers and manufacturers get a feel for what the market wants, and by the end of the year we should see the first must-have VR titles.

Don’t be too surprised if we also see new and cheaper players in the game and a refinement of the Google Cardboard technology.

Smart Appliances (The Internet of Things)

The “Internet of Things” has become a bit of an over-used word in the tech industry, but it’s clear the technology is not going anywhere.

While there is still relatively limited use in having your smartphone talk to your toaster, the promise is definitely there.

2017 will see more IoT devices reach consumers and more practical uses uncovered.

Going Mobile

Currently four out of five people use their phones to shop, reports Forbes.

That should tell you just how mobile the world is becoming, as more and more people rely on their smartphones over their laptops and PCs.

With more and more cities around the world jumping onto Fibre internet connections, it’s become increasingly clear that 2017 is South Africa’s turn.

While we don’t expect it to take over ADSL connections just yet, a strong foothold was already established in 2016 and we only expect new deals and better coverage in 2017.
