The 10 most popular questions South Africans asked Google this week

Google has revealed the top trending searches in South Africa for the past week, which includes “Is Charlize Theron dead?”.

Other trending search terms were “Budget speech 2017”, “Vaal Dam”, and “Exoplanet discovery”.

Google processes more than 40,000 search queries worldwide every second. This translates to more than a billion searches per day.

The top trending questions on Google South Africa this past week were:

  1. Is Charlize Theron dead?
  2. Why do we pay tax and what is it used for?
  3. Is Leon Schuster dead?
  4. How full is the Vaal Dam?
  5. How to cook chicken?
  6. How did Dan Vickerman die?
  7. How to transfer data on MTN
  8. When is the Budget speech 2017?
  9. What is entrepreneurship?
  10. How to calculate BMI
