Shadow of War

10 October 2017 (Xbox One, PS4, PC)

Fans of 2014’s surprisingly-brilliant Shadow of Mordor will have Shadow of War in their sights this week.

The Lord of the Rings spin-off sequel expands upon the open-world action formula of the first, throwing players back into the role of Talion, who returns from the first game, to give the armies of Sauron some serious stick.

The Nemesis system returns (whereby your enemies remember you and your actions), but in contrast to the previous game, which was more of a hack and slash, Shadow of War will have an action role-playing approach, creating a more personalised experience for each player.

It will also feature dynamic weather system as well as day-night cycle which affects the gameplay and enemy behaviour.

The Evil Within 2

13 October 2017 (Xbox One, PS4, PC)

Bethesda have hopes of giving us new nightmares this month, as The Evil Within 2, the sequel to 2014’s brilliant survival horror revival from the mind of Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami, creeps out from the shadows.

The Evil Within 2 picks up after the events of the first game, where no one believes the horrors that Detective Sebastian Castellanos experienced. But when Castellanos is given a chance to save his daughter, he must descend once more into the nightmarish world of STEM.

Expect lots of eerie corridors, grotesque monsters and walls that don’t act like walls.
