Google and Apple pressured Telegram into blocking a channel called @top_pop following reports that Taylor Swift’s music was being illegally distributed through it, reported TorrentFreak.

Channel creator Anton Vagin said he received a notification from Telegram that Apple and Google had received complaints from Universal Music over the sharing of Swift’s latest album.

If Telegram did not take action, its app may have be pulled from Google Play and the App Store, stated the report.

“Representatives from Apple and Google contacted us and made a complaint that your public channel @top_pop was violating intellectual property rights by publishing content owned by Universal Music. Unfortunately, your channel is now blocked,” stated the notice.
