ZA Gaming Alliance (ZAGA)
The ZA Gaming Alliance, better known as ZAGA, is one of South Africa’s most well-known gaming communities.
Its Facebook group had 88,500 members at the time of writing, and is a catch-all group for gaming discussions, questions, memes, and recruitment.
The ZA Gaming Alliance is so popular that several members even have stickers they put on the back of their cars – much to the delight of other members when they find a ZAGA gamer “out in the wild.”
MyBroadband Forum
The MyBroadband Forum is South Africa’s largest technology forum – making it a great place to find fellow gamers.
It has a dedicated gaming sub-forum, and is naturally a place where you can find many technology and gaming enthusiasts.
The MyBroadband Forum also runs several polls a week – some of which will give you the opportunity to have your say on gaming questions.
Carbonite
Carbonite is a popular online technology classifieds website for South Africans.
It is a popular place to buy and sell new and second-hand gaming hardware, software, and peripherals.

South African Fighting Game Community
The South African Fighting Game Community, or SA_FGC for short, is a discord channel for South Africans who love beat-em-up style games.
It has over 3,500 members and is free and available for anyone to join.
Alongside text channels for fighting game discussions and other gaming culture topics, it has a collection of voice channels for gamers who want to play titles like Tekken and Street Fighter together.
Mettlestate
Mettlestate describes itself as “the ultimate gaming platform where skills meet rewards.”
It organises various tournaments, competitions, and challenges for local gamers, with the opportunity to win cash prizes if you are successful.
Its featured games include Fortnite, Chess, Clash Royale, COD Mobile, EA FC Mobile, and Free Fire.
Chaos Gaming
Chaos Gaming is a long-standing South African community that is heavily focused on modding video games and running servers.
According to its website, it hosts dedicated hardware locally for ARK, ATLAS, and Empyrion.
“We’ve been hosting servers, coding mods, and running organized chaos since 2005, back in the Battlefield 2 and ADSL days when Teamspeak ruled the world,” says Chaos Gaming’s website.
South Africa War Era
South Africa War Era is the dedicated discord community focused on playing the popular browser-based life-sim military game, War Era.
Compared to several other communities on the list, South Africa War Era is a bit smaller – with about 700 members – but it is a tight-knit and welcoming community that is particularly enthusiastic about helping new players.
The South African War Era community is currently trying to reclaim its land from the occupying Germans, who used Namibia as a proxy to execute their invasion.
Valorant Sub-Saharan Africa
Valorant Sub-Saharan Africa is a discord community with nearly 2,500 members.
It is focused on the popular online shooting game, Valorant, and is a great place to discuss the game and find local gamers to play with.

Escape from Tarkov ZA
This 3,250+ community is focused on the popular online shooter, Escape from Tarkov.
