In case you’ve only just tuned in to the internet, some interesting stuff has been happening over on Steam. During the Steam Summer Sale practically every title, franchise and publisher title worth mentioning has been discounted. On top of that, each day there have been further 24 hour discounts on selected titles. The sale will be running up until the end of 10 July 2011.
While this is obviously awesome, proven by the growing list of MyGaming community purchases, there’s also a competition running alongside the sale, which some may have overlooked.
Investigating the Steam Summer Camp Prize Booth, one can unlock various goodies, including a free game – Alien Breed 2. To grab the prizes, you need to earn prize tickets by performing various tasks with your Steam account. The prize booth goodies cost three tickets each.
There is also an overarching competition which will see 100 lucky gamers winning the top 10 items on their Steam games wish list. The tickets earned through Steam are doubled up for entry into this competition. In other words, if you spend tickets on booth prizes, those tickets are also still in the pool for competition entry. To be eligible for the competition, one simply need have earned at least one ticket, and have 10 items on their wish list. The competition doesn’t require Steam users to have purchased any games.
There are some rather easy to obtain tickets for those who don’t have the plethora of games to which ticket earning achievements have been associated. One can do simple things such as joining the Summer Camp Steam group, synchronising the Steam account Facebook, uploading a screenshot, or watching a trailer on Steam.
There’s really no excuse to not have entered yourself into the Steam Summer Camp competition with the chance to win your top 10 desired games. The Summer Camp Sale ends on 10 July, so you have a solid weekend in which to try and obtain as many tickets as possible for the competition. Good luck!
