What we're playing this weekend (6-7 August 2011)

5 August 2011

Chris Kemp

This weekend, I’ll be playing whatever Cathay Pacific has on offer, so I’m thinking Minesweeper at the best, Sudoku at the worst. I’m off for a holiday in the Philippines, so it’ll be two long weeks away from gaming for me. It’s going to be hard giving up my mouse and keyboard for white sand beaches and drinks with little umbrellas in them, but somehow I’ll make it through this difficult time. See you all in two weeks!

I’ll be returning to the Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet, and saving the world with rockets and buzzsaws and rearrangements of light crystals. At least, I think I’m saving the world. The game actually isn’t very clear on that point.

Dan Parmenter

The end of the gaming drought is nigh! However, as any decent titles are still a couple weeks away from release, I’m continuing my exploration of the well-stocked PSN. Limbo will be occupying my time this weekend along with a bit of DeathSpank, and perhaps some Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light DLC if I’m peckish.

Otherwise there are plenty of remarkably cool iOS games out right now including Gesundheit and Cordy, so I may just be splurging my free minutes and iTunes Store credit on portable gaming fun.

Nic Simmonds

The MyGaming maintenance department is still trying to extinguish the burning rubber left behind by Nic Simmond’s car tyres as he dashed off to the Oppikoppi music festival this morning. We suspect he’ll be crowd-surfing, funnelling beer, and sleeping in the dirt this weekend.

James Etherington-Smith

Arrr landlubbers; this weekend I’ll be reviewin’ pirate strategy-ad’enture game Pirates of Black Cove.

I be choosin’ from se’eral diffarnt pirate cap’ns and then splicin’ the mainsail as I set off t’ unite three pirate factions; the Pirates, the Corsairs, an’ the Buccaneers. Aye, me parrot concurs.

T’ game promises plenty o’ wacky nautical an’ land-based weap’ns with which to lay into them scurvy sea-dogs!

Watch out fer me re’iew next week. Gar!
