What we’re playing this weekend (2-4 December 2011)

This weekend I’m stabbing more beggars in Assassin’s Creed: Revelations and murdering more gimps in Saints Row: The Third. So nothing unusual, really.

I also plan to spend a few hours pawing my iPad thanks to a slew of cool new iOS games like Epoch, The Bard’s Tale and the highly anticipated Infinity Blade 2.

This weekend I plan on getting horribly lost in Skyrim, with occasional bouts of Battlefield 3 online sessions sprinkled throughout to keep things interesting.

I adopted a kitten on Tuesday, so I have to spend quite a lot of time taking photos of him and posting them on Twitter with comments about how adorable he is and how awesome he is and how cute he is and stuff like that; obviously.

In between all of that, I might manage to get in some more Skyrim, and maybe a bit of  Assassin’s Creed: Revelations multiplayer.

Contrary to the norm, this weekend I know exactly what I’m playing – Modern Warfare 3 and Heroes of Newerth. My love for various DotA clones tends to ebb and flow, but they have this inexorable pull that always has me coming back to them after a while, like a battered housewife insisting they’ve changed. So I’m certain I’ll be grinding out some HoN games this weekend, and instantly regretting it afterwards; and then doing it again.

As for Modern Warfare 3; I have to grudgingly admit I’m having a blast with it. The franchise finally feels like the original Modern Warfare to me, and I was a total sucker for CoD4. Turns out I suck now though, so much more face-smashing is required. If you see a suicidal lunatic with a Riot Shield, that’s probably me. Be nice.

I’m still pretty dedicated to Skyrim, bugs and all. I’ll sink a few more hours into stealing everything I see, killing the weak and innocent, and getting my arse handed to me by dragons, being I can’t be arsed to learn any ranged attacks. If more free time presents itself (does it ever?), I’ll jam some Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer.

This weekend I’m getting three of my friends over (yes, I have friends) so we can play 4-player co-op in Rayman Origins. I’m sure it’ll probably degrade into swearing and smash-talk pretty quickly. Ashamedly, I admit I’ve also become addicted to one of those pointless build-and-collect iPad games in the form of DragonVale. I’ve started speaking to a therapist, but she just keeps asking me if I’ve managed to breed a Rainbow Dragon yet. No. No I haven’t. BUT I WILL!

Finally, Gotham will get the hero it deserves. That is if this particular hero can get past the @!%$#*&!# SecuROM check that has thus far stymied my attempts to launch Batman: Arkham City for PC.
