Games releasing this week (12 – 16 March 2012)

12 March 2012

When it comes to releasing games, it would appear that the games industry is very much like Mr. Miyagi’s karate lesson – wax on, wax off.

This week it’s wax off, after Mass Effect 3’s launch last Friday – meaning there’s nothing really huge coming this week, unless you like re-runs, classics, or catching up with games you may have missed – at a lower price.

FIFA Street

There hasn’t been a FIFA Street game for quite a long time now, and even though FIFA Street is toting the ‘4’ in certain places, it’s actually acting as a reboot for EA’s street football franchise.

FIFA Street is coming from the same team that brought you FIFA 12, so really, you can expect the same level of dedication to the sport. Gone are the cartoon visuals of old, instead opting for a more realistic look.

FIFA Street brings on faster games, smaller teams, places focus on moves, skills and technique, and will feature about double the number of moves you can do in FIFA 12. Add to that real-life players, various locales and online play – it’s looking to be a title footie fans can’t miss. Though be warned: if you like your football online, Origin and an online pass is required.

FIFA Street 2012 hits stores this Friday, 16 March 2012, for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Driver San Francisco

The latest in the Driver franchise is making its way to the Classics/Platinum pile – and we highly recommend you pick this one up if you hadn’t before.

Driver San Fran marked an excellent return to the series, forgetting the hurt of the past, and setting the stage for the series to continue on an great note – if you can simply forget how ridiculous the story actually is.

The shift feature is the most innovative tool we’ve seen in a long time (even now) and its addition to multiplayer opened up a whole new world of fun when playing with friends – everything about Driver San Francisco was a welcome shift (lol) for the series, and it fully deserves its 87% awarded by MyGaming.

For a lower price, there’s really no excuse not to pick this one up.
