The best and worst internet connections in SA

Telkom’s 1Mbps and 10Mbps broadband connections are rated tops in South Africa while MTN and iBurst wireless have the unhappiest customers with Vodacom following closely. This is according to the latest broadband survey done by MyBroadband.

The results are relevant to South Africa’s gamers, who will seek a fast and reliable connection for downloading games purchased through digital stores, as well as a stable, low latency connection for competing in online games.

In the survey broadband users were asked to rate their broadband connection in polls based on connection on speed, stability and reliability.

The five point rating scale used in the poll was as follows:

  • 5 – Excellent (much better than expected)
  • 4 – Good (better than expected)
  • 3 – Fair (exactly as expected)
  • 2 – Bad (worse than expected)
  • 1 – Pathetic (much worse than expected)

Telkom’s ADSL 1Mbps connection received the highest average ranks (3.54), followed by Telkom’s 10Mbps service (3.49) and 8ta’s 3G/HSPA connection (3.47).

iBurst Wireless received the worst ratings (2.33) with MTN 3G/HSPA (2.70) and Vodacom 3G/HSPA (2.90) also not doing well.

    Your ratings are ridicules how can Cell C rate higher than Vodacom when Cell C is depended on Vodacom for most of there communications network and then everyone inthe RSA is actually depended on Telkom most communications still travels through telkom lines.
