What we’re playing the weekend (17-18 March 2012)

16 March 2012

Chris Kemp

I’m baaaaack! My first proper weekend back in South Africa after two years, what will I play to celebrate?Well, probably not much at all.

The weekend is going to be predictably hectic, with moving house, seeing family and sorting out various things, there isn’t much time for gaming. However when I do have a couple of spare hours to squeeze in, I think I’ll spend my time online getting sworn at by South Africans instead of Americans/Asians.

If someone swears at me in Afrikaans, I think I just might weep with joy.

Kemp, jou bliksem!

I’m going to finish Mass Effect 3 on Insanity difficulty. THIS IS A THING I AM GOING TO DO.

I managed to get right up to the end of the third last campaign mission before being forced to dial it down to an easier difficulty just to get past [YOU KNOW, THAT BIT].

But I can do it, I know I can, and if I have to break a thousand controllers to do it, I will.

Quinton Bronkhorst

This weekend I’ve decided to call together the league of extraordinary gamermen for an urgent session of gaming that entails everything from table-top Chaos and Rockband, to Street Fighter and LANning Gears of War 3.

If everything goes according to plan, we won’t run out of pizza, and won’t have to resort to eating each other.

This weekend I’m continuing my thorough probing of the Mass Effect 3 universe for the upcoming MyGaming review. I’ve had a slightly less-than-perfect experience compared to those who’ve fallen prey to the Interwebs hype machine, so look out for my unbiased opinion soon.

I’ve also become completely besotted with Kingdoms of Amalur and my meticulously-planned mage build, so I foresee some serious grinding taking up my time in between attempting to get Commander Shepard’s space rocks off.

Nic Simmonds

This rainy Joburg weather really could not have come at a better time. This weekend I’ll be sinking countless hours into Mass Effect 3, partly because I’m really enjoying it so far, and partly because I really want to know why everyone is cryfacing about the ending.

James Etherington-Smith

I received and intriguingly cryptic e-mail form Quinton, speaking of banishing Khaos from the world with a chainsaw/machine-gun/pizza slicer hyrbid weapon and the odd request to bring as many moist towelettes as I can lay hands on. Sounds like fun. I will also most certainly be slogging my way through Mass Effect 3 toward the supposedly disappointing end-game.
