The gods of beta testing decided they had been neglecting their favourite minion this week and decided to make it up to me – I opened up my e-mail on Wednesday to find a Diablo 3 beta key (thanks James), and directly above it, a notice from Valve saying I’d been accepted into the DOTA 2 beta. It was like serendipity, but with less John Cusack. So I don’t see myself doing much else this weekend, aside from those mandatory bores like eating, sleeping (optional) and writing news for you lot (not optional).

This weekend I find myself somewhat torn. I picked up Total War: Shogun 2 – The Rise of the Samurai on Steam for $2.50 this week, but I’m also only 10 hours into Mass Effect 3, and I really want to find out what all this ending controversy is about. To make matters worse, I have a very specific itch that only a few hours of playing Battlefield 3 online can scratch. My indecision will probably amount to me spending more hours staring at my screen trying to decide what to play, than actually playing any games.

My new banjo, duhhhhhh. And maybe some Mass Effect 3 multiplayer in between while I rest my raw and bloodied fingers.

This weekend I’m going to be turning my house upside down looking for Skyrim, because it’s gone missing or SOMEONE STOLE IT, I SWEAR IF I FIND YOU, YOU ARE DEAD, I WILL FUS ROH DAH YOU INTO NEXT WEEK YOU LITTLE PUNK. Aside from that I will frolic through the daisy fields as I always do after sessions with my therapist.

I took the plunge and decided to supplement my PS3 gaming with an Xbox 360, so this weekend I’ll be swamped with all the exclusives I’ve missed out on in recent years.
I also have a way to go in Kingdoms of Amalur which I’ve just discovered is a heck of a lot bigger than I’d thought, so in-between that and my shiny new Xdoos, I don’t plan on leaving the couch or my Mr. Delivery menu any time soon.

I still have Mass Effect 1 and 2 sealed in the shrink wrap at home, and with all the hype around Mass Effect 3, I think now its about time to open them up and see what all the fuss is about. Yes, I haven’t finished Mass Effect 1 or 2. No, I don’t live in a cave. Yes, I do feel slightly ashamed of myself. No, I don’t want to know how Mass effect 3 ends.

I’m suffering from a bit of gaming overload at the moment. On the gaming to do list is: finish Mass Effect 3; finish Asura’s Wrath; play Alan Wake PC (bought on Steam special); check out Civilisation V (Steam special); check out Shogun 2 (another Steam special – I think I have a problem); download and check out Diablo III beta (finally!); find more reasons to dislike Dota 2 and keep playing HoN; snipe Nic in the head; and pretend I have any hope of reviewing some of these games on my desk… I’ll more likely be getting some work done as I’m on “make sure nothing breaks” duty this weekend. Chris, I’m watching you… ಠ_ಠ
