Why, hello there four-day week, what a pleasure to see you. Please, come in and enjoy some chocolate festivities.

Indeed, Easter is upon us – and that means public holidays, over-indulgence, and of course, the release of HD remakes of games revolving around demons and the occult. It’s almost too ironic to be true.

If horror and over-the-top sword-play isn’t your thing, perhaps loop-the-loops are your thing – or maybe there is something else in the mix that tickles your fancy.

Silent Hill Downpour (PS3/360)

Delayed in South Africa for some reason, Silent Hill: Downpour is finally coming out this week, and despite mixed reviews, Silent Hill fans are quite excited to get their hands on a new adventure into the depths of hell. Weird, that.

In Downpour, players take on the role of Murphy Pendleton, a prisoner who is stranded in the town of Silent Hill after a prisoner transport vehicle crash. That’s one town you don’t want to be stranded in after an accident.

If you’re not looking to get in on the new adventure, then you can also look forward to the HD Collection coming on the same day, 5 April 2012, which will feed your nostalgia with HD reworkings of Silent Hill 2 and 3.

Top Gun Hard Lock (PC/PS3/360)

Remember when Tom Cruise wasn’t crazy and starred in that movie, Top Gun? Well, aside from creating a bankable star, the movie also established a bankable brand – even when a game set in its universe (but remains completely unrelated) pops up 26 years later.

The game features aerial dog-fighting gameplay (that with jets, if you were wondering) in both single-player and multiplayer modes. It also has a Danger Zone mode which, if you can believe it, is actually a form of aerial horde – which sounds pretty awesome, actually.

The game takes off on Good Friday (6 April 2012), so if you prefer G-force to chocolate Easter eggs, this should fulfill your fly-boy needs
