Mobile gaming is on the rise, with the likes of Angry Birds bringing in a new generation of touch-based gamers; but with the popular games casting a huge shadow over the platform, many other exciting games go unnoticed.
Let’s have a look at some of the mobile games that you should keep an eye on – they’ve received praise from the mobile gaming communities, but just haven’t seemed to garnered the exposure they need.
Foosball HD
One thing that never gets underused is a foosball table, and having one on your tablet is worryingly distracting. Foosball HD emulates a real game of table-top football with reactive physics and silky-smooth gameplay. With the ability to play with 2 players, Foosball HD is a worthwhile app to pick up, or at least a makeshift drinking game.
Virtual Table Tennis HD
Much like Foosball HD, Virtual Table Tennis HD recreates a game which everyone can play, but very few can actually master. With simplistic yet dynamic controls, players can easily get their ping-pong on, and the fact that its free makes it that much more appealing.
Zombie Infection
Zombie Infection may look very familiar, and it should. It basically steals everything it does from Resident Evil 4, but that’s alright, because it’s actually pretty good. Essentially a touch-based third-person shooter, Zombie Infection throws players into a variety of different locations against a host of zombified freaks. Thankfully, you’ve got some decent firepower on your side.
Riptide
From the guys who brought us the recent Hydro Thunder re-release to Xbox Live, comes Riptide to iPad and iPhone. A wave racer featuring high-powered jet skis that captures the spirit and speed of Hydro Thunder is always a good thing. Featuring a bunch of tracks and dynamic water-effects, Riptide is worth checking out.
Zombieville USA 2
Zombieville USA 2 is a shoot-‘em-up that requires players to rid a town of a zombie outbreak. The game features some gorgeous cartoon-styled visuals, destructive environments and three weapons slots, which can be filled with shotguns, pistols and machine-guns in order to help you take on the waves of undead.
