You’ve got to love April here in South Africa: it’s the month with the shortest working weeks in any given year, and here we have yet another four-day week to look forward to.

While pickings this week are pretty slim on the gaming front, what the week does offer is pretty big – if you’ve been waiting for Prototype 2, then your time has come. For everyone else, there are some muddy tracks to be had, and some angry birds to be flung.

Prototype 2 (360/PS3)

Prototype 2 follows James Heller as he takes up his personal vendetta against Alex Mercer – protagonist from the first game, and cause of all of Heller’s anguish.

On his mission, he will be tracked down and hunted by Blackwatch, and will have to battle it out with the many monstrosities that have spawned from the effects of Gentek’s Blacklight virus.

The game takes place 14 months after the first game, offers a new protagonist, a new ‘playground’ to cause havoc in, and the same action-packed gameplay you’ve come to love – but so much more. Personally, we can’t wait to dig those tendrils into innocent bystanders. We’re evil like that.

Prototype 2 gets a global release tomorrow, 24 April 2012, with the special Blacklight Edition dropping Friday, 27 April 2012.

MUD (PC/360/PS3)

Ever feel like getting on a motor-cross bike and getting down and dirty in the mud? Yeah, we don’t want to either – but luckily we have video games for that.

Featuring the official FIM official motocross licenses, a wealth of official riders are playable within the game, as well as many real-world locations.

MUD packs a brand new game engine, 14 different bikes, 84 riders (including stars such as Ryan Villopoto, Tony Cairoli, Chad Reed, Ryan Dungey and Ken Roczen) and 12 official tracks, and also features fully deformable terrain conditions, a realistic MX handling model and much more.

MUD is out Thursday, 26 April 2012.
