Games you can play this week

You all may think that next week is holding the biggest release for May, if not all time, in the form of Diablo 3 – but you’d be wrong.

So wrong, in fact, that I bet you’re all so blinded by Diablo’s grasp on you that you completely forgot about Activision’s ultra-realistic animal murdering simulator being released this Friday.

Great game, or GREATEST game? We’re banking on neither.

Cabela’s Big Game Hunter 2012

Do you like murdering innocent animals? Just kidding, animals are never innocent. Just look at them standing there…eating grass…all threatening-like.

The latest first-person shooter in the the long-standing Cabela’s hunter series takes you into the deepest and wildest environments to battle against the rampant animal scourge, which is presumably trying to destroy earth one blade of grass at a time.

The game features the “wildest animals yet” that are so ultra-realistic that “it’s like they can see, hear and smell you,” according to Activision.

With a massive selection of a few shotguns and rifles to choose from, and the promise of upgradable gear, you can rest assured that you will be evenly-matched as you go up against the typically insanely over-powered rabbits, antelope, sheep and boars. Oh and Rhino. Because that’s topical and completely not insensitive at all.

Are you ready to take back Earth?

The animals will be coming right for us this Friday, 11 May 2012.

Back to the Future

Published by Deep Silver, Telltale’s trip back into the past to get to the future with Marty McFly and Doc Brown is hitting retail this Friday (11 May 2012).

The game tells an all-new story set six months after the end of the third film, where the DeLorean makes a return to McFly’s Hill Valley. Obviously if a time machine lands up in your town again, you’re basically expected to take another zany trip through space and time to do things.

It’s written in the big book of rules, somewhere.

The game is an adventure game, so expect a lot of running around, solving puzzles, talking to people and putting things together to solve puzzles and then some more running around. It’s the staple of adventure games of old – which seems to be making its way back…to the future.

I’m sorry.
