Games you can play this week

30 July 2012

This week’s video game releases have something for everyone: Piratey action in Risen 2, co-op destruction in Orcs Must Die! 2, and some downloadable games that are worth stocking up on online credits for.

Risen 2: Dark Waters

After releasing in April on PC, the pirate-themed RPG sequel makes its way to consoles to the delight of all peg-leg and parrot loving gamers.

Deep Silver’s plundering Risen 2: Dark Waters has received a fairly positive reception compared to the original game, and even MyGaming’s Chris Kemp found some mixed-love within the swashbuckling adventure: Risen 2: Dark Waters review (PC)

“Overall, Risen 2 is a decent game. The pirate theme is fun and refreshing, the environments are vast and beautiful and the vulgar style is humourous and fits with the well-executed theme. The game doesn’t ask a lot of you, with an accessible interface and structure and a fairly linear path of progression.”

Orcs Must Die! 2

PC gamers can rejoice as the sequel to the Orc-killing simulator is making its way to the platform this week.

Orcs Must Die! 2 is an action-strategy game that challenges players and a friend to team up and defend a world constantly under siege.

Orcs Must Die! 2 begins just days after the ending of the original game. With the rifts closed and the magical Order dead, the War Mage finds himself suddenly thrust into a new battle against the mindless orc mob. He has a powerful, if questionable, new companion in the Sorceress, an ex-War Mage responsible for the destruction of the Order.

OMD! 2 – Oh yeah! I can’t wait until I can actually play it…pity that it didn’t unlock this morning already.

I see Awesomenauts is also coming to PC on the 1st (but with no option to pre-order and no price that I can see). http://store.steampowered.com/app/204300/
