As every football season swings around, that inevitable feeling that a new FIFA is on the horizon creeps in.
FIFA 13 is set for release this week, but with some international journalists getting their hands on EA’s latest instalment, what are the first impressions?
FIFA 13 is currently sitting on 90 and 91 Metascores for Xbox 360 and PS3 respectively – a high average even for FIFA’s standards.
On Gamerankings, the game is fairing just as well, with 89.55% and 89.58% on 360 and PS3 respectively.
So it looks as if FIFA 13 is meeting the high expectations, and with the impressive scores in-tow, what are critics actually saying about the game?
CVG – 91/100
“Despite not being a huge step forward, FIFA 13’s gameplay’s more organic and modes are plentiful. It eats, sleeps and breathes football, tying into the world game like nothing before. FIFA 13’s less a videogame and more a season ticket.” Read the full review.
Playstation Official Magazine UK – 90/100
“FIFA is still the best football game your money can buy. It’s not streets ahead of PES but there’s daylight, and this is the most convincing representation of the sport”. Read the full review.
Videogamer – 9/10
“FIFA 13 is definitely an improvement on its predecessor. The additions from last year have been worked on and sit far more comfortably this time.” Read the full review.
Eurogamer – 9/10
“If you do go with FIFA 13, however, then you will find more ways to play it, all of them detailed and engaging, than ever before, and you will probably still be playing it when we’re back here again in a year’s time for the next instalment.” Read the full review.
IGN – 9/10
“If you’re a big fan of the series in general, it’s hard to think of a game that you’ll enjoy more this year.” Read the full review.
OXM – 9/10
“Dribbling’s expanded, players are fallible, and online modes complement the real world unlike any sports title before it. FIFA 13′s bigger and brighter in every way” Read the full review.
GameInformer – 88/100
“FIFA 13 captures a lot of the passion and pageantry of world football, but beneath the surface its gameplay flaws can hinder the beautiful movements that truly make the sport great.” Read the full review.
