FIFA 13 vs PES 2013 – who scored most?

FIFA 13 and PES 2013 are both finally out on the gaming pitch, but with the banter back and forth as to who should take the virtual football crown, let’s get down to the numbers – who scored more points?

Looking at some of the major gaming publications, we can contrast the scores of both games and see which is preferred among CVG, Videogamer, IGN, Gameinformer, and football fanatics Official Playstation Magazine UK.

CVG:

On FIFA 13: 91 – ““Despite not being a huge step forward, FIFA 13′s gameplay’s more organic and modes are plentiful. It eats, sleeps and breathes football, tying into the world game like nothing before.” Read the full review.

Videogamer

On FIFA 13: 9/10 – “FIFA 13 is definitely an improvement on its predecessor. The additions from last year have been worked on and sit far more comfortably this time.” Read the full review.

IGN:

On FIFA 13: – 9/10 – “If you’re a big fan of the series in general, it’s hard to think of a game that you’ll enjoy more this year.” Read the full review.

On PES 2013: 8.5/10 – “It’s not ground breaking and it’s by no means perfect, but PES 2013 – more than its recent predecessors – feels like a game with a sense of identity and direction.” Read the full review.

GameInformer

On FIFA 13: – 8.75/100 “FIFA 13 captures a lot of the passion and pageantry of world football, but beneath the surface its gameplay flaws can hinder the beautiful movements that truly make the sport great.” Read the full review.

On PES 2013:  – 8.75/10 – “This year’s game makes some changes around the edges that are both subtle and new directions for the franchise.” Read the full review.

OPM UK:

On FIFA 13: 90/100 – “FIFA is still the best football game your money can buy. It’s not streets ahead of PES but there’s daylight, and this is the most convincing representation of the sport”. Read the full review.

On PES 2013: 80/10 – “While familiar faults persist, PES 2013 marks the biggest step forward for the series on PS3.” Read the full review.

The scores are extremely tight, with some publications even giving both games the same score down the a decimal point; but it looks as if FIFA 13 edges out PES 2013 within this score set.

FIFA 13 is currently sitting on 90 and 91 Metascores for Xbox 360 and PS3 respectively – a high average even for FIFA’s standards.

On Gamerankings, the game is fairing just as well, with 89.55% and 89.58% on 360 and PS3 respectively.

PES 2013 holds Metascores of 82 and 83 on Xbox 360 and PS3 respectively, with a 80.94% and 81.59% on Gamerankings for the same platforms.
