rAge 2012, South Africa’s largest gaming expo and LAN event, has come to a close, and as the weary troops recuperate, let’s reflect on what the participants had to say about the mammoth gaming session.
MyGaming caught up with a few of the LANners to hear their thoughts.
LAN thoughts?
“The LAN is really good, but I think it’s going to improve even more as people begin to settle in and there are more players this evening.” – Greg Bruss.
“The LAN has been busy – the tickets were very expensive, but it has been very good. But I have no internet. We need Steam to play games like MW3, but with no internet it makes it a bit tough; we have to play cracked versions.” – Alexander Flock.
“The LAN has been awesome; it’s my first time though. The LAN is great, but I haven’t been walking around and checking out the show itself though.” – Tumi.
“Pure brilliance!” – Brendan Marks.
“It’s been amazing so far, the only downside is that they could’ve had a 1Gbps line as opposed to 100Mbps; it just makes things a little laggy, but outstanding so far.” – Super Galactic President McAwesome (we don’t make this stuff up).

Did you come just for the LAN or the showroom floor too?
“I obviously came for the LAN; the showroom is cool, but it does get a bit boring after a while, so I’m looking to the LAN to keep me busy.” – Greg Bruss.
“I just came for the LAN.” – Alexander Flock.
“I’m definitely heading into the show, and being an action/adventure gamer, I’m very keen to see Assassin’s Creed III, and Far Cry 3.” – Tumi.
“I am keen to check out Assassin’s Creed III, definitely want to get my hands on that!” – Brendan Marks.
“I am also going to see if I can get some cool hardware deals at some good prices.” – Super Galactic President McAwesome.
“I obviously came for the LAN; the showroom is cool, but it does get a bit boring after a while” – Greg Bruss
Any problems with the network?
“None at all. Set up very quickly and have had no problems.” – Greg Bruss.
“There’s no internet” – Alexander Flock.
“I was expecting a hiccup, and there was apparently a problem with Telkom, but for me it’s been great, no problems.” – Anonymous.
“I’m not even sure if the internet is working.” – Brendan Marks.
In comparison to last year?
“I got some sleep last year, so that was a plus.” – Brendan Marks.
“My first time at rAge, but excited!” – Super Galactic President McAwesome.
“The LAN has been busy – the tickets were very expensive, but it has been very good” – Alexander Flock
