This week, gamers are in for a flurry of first-person action, with the release of two anticipated games – Doom 3: BFG Edition and Medal of Honor Warfighter, among others.
Doom 3 BFG Edition is looking to give the current-gen a taste of the action/horror masterpiece, while Warfighter is keen to stake its claim in the military FPS market.
Doom 3: BFG Edition
23 October 2012
The Doom 3 BFG Edition features Doom 3 and the Resurrection of Evil add-on pack, both of which have been revamped for Xbox 360 and PS3. The package also includes “hours” of new content – seven new levels titled “The Lost Mission”. And just in case that isn’t enough Doom for you, the originals of the legendary FPS franchise are also squeezed into the package – Doom and Doom 2.
Doom 3, Resurrection of Evil, and “The Lost Mission” have been given the modern day 3D gaming treatment, which sounds pretty cool. It also boasts 5.1 surround sound, Xbox 360 Achievements, PlayStation 3 trophies, improved rendering and lighting, and a new check point save system to make up for the lack of a quick-save button on console controllers.
Medal of Honor: Warfighter
26 October 2012
Medal of Honor: Warfighter will look to improve upon EA’s 2010 reboot, which while enjoyed by many, didn’t manage to hold attention for very long. A grittier and more intense experience is expected this time around.
Featuring military squads from all around the world, players will embark on globe-spanning missions that will throw them into some of the harshest battlegrounds and situations.
Warfighter’s multiplayer will obviously play a huge role, and Warfighter looks to have all the ingredients needed to propel it into online fandom.
Warfighter is powered by the Frostbite 2 Engine and will feature a lot of the technology elements DICE used within Battlefield 3.
