The week’s biggest games

After all the chaos and time-scrambling that has come with the release of Far Cry 3 last week, FPS fans are in store for some extended BF3 action, while Tolkien followers will be glad to know another Lord of the Rings game is upon us.

Battlefield 3: Aftermath

4 December 2012

PC and Xbox 360 gamers finally get the long-awaited Aftermath expansion, but only if you’re a Premium member.

The map takes place in “the shattered districts, streets and cities of post-earthquake Iran”, and Aftermath will also introduce all new weapons, vehicles and multiplayer game modes.

According to the press stuff, “in Scavenger mode, lost soldiers start equipped with only a knife, one grenade, and sidearm and must search the environment for more powerful weapons to increase their chance at surviving and eventually winning.”

You can also use crossbows. Crossbows!

Guardians of Middle Earth

4 December 2012

Guardians of Middle Earth is the new Lord of the Rings tie-in game from Monolith Productions.

Set in Middle-Earth (duh), the game is an arena RPG, where team coordination and cooperation is key.

Up to ten players may split into two teams of five and from a pool of twenty guardians from The Lord of the Rings franchise, including Gandalf and Sauron and coordinate to win matches by destroying the opposing team’s base.
