5 iPhone game reviews in 5 minutes

6 December 2012

OK, so we haven’t exactly calculated how long it takes to read this article, but it should be roughly, possibly, maybe about 5 minutes unless like Quinton you have to take pee breaks every two minutes. Anyway, here are 5 brief iPhone game reviews in 5 minutes.

N.O.V.A. 2

Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance 2 (or N.O.V.A. 2) is a first-person sci-fi shooter for the iPhone. Now don’t be hesitant to try an FPS on a touch screen, as NOVA 2 has an incredibly intuitive control system, which allows players to look, shoot and move with ease. In the same vain as Halo, NOVA 2 features big aliens, awesome guns and incredibly impressive visuals for a mobile game. Featuring full missions and multiplayer, it’s definitely worth checking out.

Street Fighter IV

One of the best-realised games which take full advantage of the iPhone’s capabilities has to be Street Fighter IV. The iPhone version contains almost everything its console counterpart does, and uses the touch screen interface as an arcade joystick and buttons. The visuals and animations are up there with the best and the gameplay is as solid as ever, making Street Fighter IV a must-have for any iPhone user.

Split/Second

Split/Second hit the iPhone with the same over-the-top action that has made its console big bro a big hit. The iPhone version is not a watered-down port, and features a large variety of PowerPlays to take out opponents and alter the track. It even features Wi-Fi enabled multiplayer, so you and all your buddies can blow up the racetrack together.

Resident Evil 4: Mobile Edition

One of the most highly-acclaimed games made its way to the iPhone, and with great results. Resident Evil 4: Mobile Edition puts the horror and action into your pocket, with full 3D environments, weapons and beasties. While the third-person shooting is a little tricky, a slight auto-aim assists this and makes RE4 on the iPhone worth your time.

Assassin’s Creed II: Discovery

Until Assassin’s Creed III arrives on mobile devices, we’re have to stick to the predecessor. While it may seem a little old now, Assassin’s Creed II made its jump onto the iPhone, and it’s one of those that shouldn’t be overlooked. Set as a sideline to the console version, AC2 on the iPhone is a side-scrolling adventure filled with heaps of assassinations, beautiful backgrounds and gorgeous animations to go with them.
