City Interactive has released its new sharp-shooting world-saver, but is it as accurate as the scope you’ll spend the game looking through?
Well, it’s not looking too great for the sequel to the “best selling sniper game ever”.
The game currently has a Metascore of 45 for the Xbox 360 version, while sitting on 54 for the PC version. There is no aggregate score for PS3 just yet, but presumably it won’t be vastly different from the Xbox 360 score.
On Gamerankings, it isn’t fairing much better, with the Xbox 360 version have a percentage of 53.33, while maintaining 50 percent on the PC version.
Check out what the critics are saying below:
IGN: 5/10
“Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 isn’t bereft of good ideas or mechanics, it’s just that they’re all trapped in a short series of levels that rarely give you anything all that interesting to do with them. Combine that with some graphical glitches and the slow and ultimately forgettable multiplayer, and you have a mediocre game that all but the hardest of the hardcore sniper-wannabes should pass on.”
Gamespot: 7/10
“Satisfying stealth and shooting make Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 a notable improvement over its predecessor.”
Official Xbox Magazine UK: 6/10
“An appealing-enough concept mired by shoddy execution. Unabashed scope junkies may find something to amuse them here, however, providing you put a bullet through your better judgement.”
Videogamer: 3/10
“The game’s main problem, everything considered, is that it makes what should be a test of skill and patience into a series of shooting galleries that require little skill. Instead, it’s a woeful Call of Duty with a telescope.”
Meritstation: 4.5/10
“Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 fails in too many elements. It’s linear, simplistic and has a guided campaign. There’s little variety and it’s too short. City Interactive doesn’t take advantage of Cry Engine 3, and it’s full of graphical issues.”
Eurogamer Italy: 4/10
“Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 is a game that does little to entertain due to poor graphics and boring game design options. Keep this game carefully out of sniping distance from your wallet.”
Metro Game Central: 3/10
“A sequel that seems to have learned almost nothing from the deeply flawed original, and which still only hints at the wider potential for a proper sniper sim.”
Vandal Online: 4/10
“There are many problems that prevent us from recommending it. A poor AI, a short campaign and a multiplayer meant to be forgotten.”
