2013 is set to continue with the chaos and excitement of big game titles, but just so that you don’t miss some of the smaller and more interesting games, we’ve put together 5 games that you should make sure to keep an eye on.
Minimal
Minimal is Timegate Studios’ next endeavour, and takes a new twist on the third-person multiplayer shooter genre.
The game looks as if Minecraft and Quake had some sort of strange sharp-edged baby, and gives players the chance to duke it out in large arenas begging to be destroyed.
The game will be entering a closed alpha launch through Steam’s Early Access channel, with a release hopefully sometime later this year.
Resident Evil: Revelations HD
Most people see the title Resident Evil: Revelations and look the other way, partially due to it being related to a handheld game, or not seeing a numerical value signifying a full sequel. Well, pay attention.
Resident Evil: Revelations HD is revamped version of the original 3DS game.
Resident Evil: Revelations returns to the survival horror gameplay of earlier series installments, with returning elements such as a limited supply of ammunition, and more emphasis on exploration and puzzle solving.
Lego Marvel Super Heroes
The Lego name may sway some people to thinking Lego Marvel Super Heroes is a child’s game, but you’d be horribly mistaken.
Anyone who’s played a Lego game can tell you that they’re pretty damn amazing, and having the Marvel characters in all their blocky glory is a match made in heaven.
Like previous Lego game, the game will be an action platformer with over 100 Marvel Universe characters to control, such as Spider-man, Hulk, Iron Man and Wolverine, to name a few.
Fuse
Originally known as Overstrike, Insomniac’s four-person co-op shooter has had a serious overhaul, and is now called Fuse.
The game follows four CIA agents who each have unique skill sets and (in typical Insomniac fashion) crazy over-the-top weaponry.
Dalton Brooks, Izzy Sinclair, Jacob Kimble, and Naya Deveraux are the only things standing between humanity and a deadly alien energy source called Fuse, which a paramilitary organisation called Raven is trying to get its hands on.
Players will be able to switch from agent to agent to command the upper hand on the battlefield and have access to extraordinary Fuse-powered weapons that can be combined for a devastating effect.
Killer is Dead
Killer is Dead is the next game from Grasshopper Manufacture, who were behind No More Heroes and Lollipop Chainsaw.
The game takes place in the near future, where you take control of an executioner named Mondo Zappa, who’s tasked with taking out some of the most dangerous criminals and assassins from around the world.
The game features the iconic cel-shaded animated look that the studio has become known for, along with the over-the-top violence and quirky humour. Keep an eye out for Killer is Dead.
