In celebration of International Star Wars Day (4 May), we’ve decided to put together the best Star Wars games that have made fans of light-sabres and tie-fighters smile throughout the years.

The following games are the highest rated Star Wars titles on Metacritic (excluding expansions and the Lego games).

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (93/100)

Bioware’s grasp on the Star Wars IP was a marriage made in heaven. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was a phenomenal game, which delivered an interactive storyline, solid gameplay, and the vast universe that you’d expect to explore in a Star Wars game.

Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II (91/100)

Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II was a great success by LucasArts, who delivered a solid first-person shooter/slasher, which finally allowed gamers the chance to cut up and dismember enemies with a light-sabre.

Star Wars Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron II (90/100)

One of the best aspects of Star Wars is the battle between the X-Wings and Tie-Fighters, and Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader delivered that perfectly.

The game only came to Gamecube, but it made it that much more special, as it had great graphics, responsive gameplay, and gave gamers the chance to relive some of the original trilogy’s best battles.

Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast (89/100)

Jedi Outcast returned players to the story of Kyle Katarn (from Dark Forces II), but added some new tricks with its comeback.

Players could engage in third-person light-sabre battles, and with the game being powered by the Quake III: Team Arena engine, the action was fast and furious. It was an instant with hardcore SW fans worldwide.

Made me nostalgia hard for KOTOR 2 – I fired it up again and even got it working in widescreen. It’s showing a bit of age but still a solid game 🙂
