Games of July 2013

1 July 2013

July is finally here and we’re officially at the half way mark of 2013. While there’s no colossal-sized and over-publicised games releasing this month, there are some interesting titles that could steal the your attention.

Mortal Kombat (PC) – 3 July 2013

Even though it’s long overdue, Mortal Kombat is hitting PCs fashionably late in July.

The game will release on 3 July through digital distribution, with a physical release dropping on 6 August.

The Komplete Edition features all previously released DLC, which includes the additional characters of Skarlet, Kenshi and Rain, as well as the iconic horror star, Freddy Krueger.

Additionally, the game offers 15 Klassic Mortal Kombat Skins and three Klassic Fatalities (Scorpion, Sub-Zero and Reptile).

Scourge: Outbreak (XBLA, PSN, PC) – 3 July 2013

Scourge: Outbreak may not be the most well-known game this month, but it does look like third-person enthusiasts may find some fun in this sci-fi co-op shooter.

Scourge: Outbreak challenges up to four players to fight aliens and military personnel using each character’s unique weapons, stats and abilities.

As XP is earned in the game’s single-player campaign, new rewards are also unlocked in the Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and Capture-the-Flag multiplayer modes.

Dark (PC, Xbox 360) – 5 July 2013

Hiding in the shadows is Dark – a stealth action role-playing game from German developer Realmforge Studios, releasing on 5 July.

Dark follows Eric, a vampire who can take control of some impressive supernatural abilities, such as teleportation, invisibility, and the ability to see in the dark and slow down time.

As you’d expect, players can regenerate the vampiric abilities by drinking the blood of enemies.

The game looks interesting and hopefully lives up to its promise.

Shadowrun Returns (PC) – 25 July

The Kickstarter success story of Shadowrun Returns will make a debut this month, and take the cyberpunk tactical role-playing series back to its turned-based roots.

It will also feature a robust editor, where creations can be shared through Steam Workshop.

Sir, You Are Being Hunted (PC, Mac, Linux) – July TBA

One of the quirkier and more interesting games dropping in July is Sir, You are Being Hunted.

The game is an open-world survival shooter, where you’ll have to try and survive in an open hunting ground populated by “Hunters”, who are robots dressed as Victorian gentlemen.

You can use traps and items in order to help you survive and escape the devilish blood-sport going on.
